This week in math and literacy, students worked on applying math skills to complete winter/holiday activities. In math, students built snowmen and calculated how much their total was when purchasing snowman parts. Check out their work, below!
Today, students practiced waiting in control, paying attention, and turn taking while bowling! Students enjoyed cheering each other on as they bowled. What a fun celebration of all the hard work students have done so far this school year! Check out the photos/videos below!
Today, students used lists to shop for or search for items for other people (family, pets, friends). They used a set budget amount for each gift they found. Students needed to use next dollar up to pay the cashier to pay for their items and practiced handing money over nicely.
After shopping or browsing, students ate lunch at Subway or Noodles. Finally, back at Butler, students shared what they saw or purchased with the whole group. Speakers practiced speaking loudly and clearly. Audience members practiced whole body listening: using brain to think about what others were saying, using eyes to look at the speaker, and using body to face the speaker. Check out the pictures below! Today our group went to Woodman's for an activity. We practiced using signs to find items and departments, read the price tags, and figured out the dollar up for items.
Before we left, Malix led the group in discussion about expected behaviors. Way to go, Malix! After our trip, each student reflected on their learning and then presented their reflection sheets to the class with loud, clear voices. Those who weren't presenting practiced whole body listening: eyes on the speaker, brain thinking about what the speaker is saying, and body facing the speaker. Check out the photos below. |
