Literacy In Literacy, the group read a story about Valentines. Characters in the story each liked different things. At the end of the story, the students added to the book with their own page! They made their own Valentine by drawing themselves and the things they like. Community Based Learning Experience: Woodman'sOn Wednesday, students went to Woodman's and completed 2 different activities. Some students worked on finding items on a scavenger hunt sheet. Others worked on using a sheet with attributes and found items to fit those attributes (soft, plastic, large, etc.). Students also practiced crossing the street/walking in the parking lot safely using the crosswalk, looking all directions, and determining if it was safe to cross. Before leaving for the trip, Liliana and Kylie led the group in discussing expected behaviors on the trip. Way to go, ladies! Students practiced using the crosswalk and assessing if it was safe to cross. The slideshow above shows students working on their Woodman's activities:
1) Scavenger Hunt 2) Items by Attribute Today, students needed to purchase more tickets to pay for our bus rides at the Metro Station.
In community for our activity, students worked on finding items around Target based on things like seasons, age of a person, etc. First, students found an item. Then, they wrote down the price in correct decimal format. Finally, students wrote down the dollar up for the price of each item. After our activity, we went to eat lunch. Students also had to be extremely flexible when we were unable to be served at our planned restaurant. Everyone did a great job solving the problem and discussing a new place to eat, then going there! |
