Today, we learned about different ways to keep our bodies moving and being active! We got a tour of the YMCA including a gymnastics course led by Jon and Chris. Thank you to the YMCA, Jon, and Chris for for having us today! Students enjoyed the track, small gym activities, and gymnastics obstacle course. It was fun to try new things and find new ways to get active! This is the science experiment balloon static electricity. This is from our science class at 11 am. Check out the videos to learn about this information. Tanner Video 1 Tanner Video Continued -written by tanner kirschling Today, Alia and Nathan took part in a Foods cooking lab, making sausage pesto pasta. Yum! Students needed to work with their group, do their specific jobs, and follow a recipe. Today, Miss Cook's group went to the Dollar Store with a list of materials to use in our 8th grade science units with experiments. Students needed to use the list, signs around the store, and their knowledge of what items are in each department in order to find items. Great teamwork today, everyone! ![]() Shout out to Nate for without teachers asking, grabbing the schedules, greeting his peers at the door, and handing each person their visual schedule for community!! What a leader! February 14th in Mrs. Parks skills classes brought on a lesson in reading/following a recipe as well as measuring to make salt dough. Students then made different creations from it! Some students enjoyed the measuring part much more than the texture of the dough, but fun was had by all! Check out some of the pictures from the beginning of the process to the end sculptures. Day 2 will focus on adding color to the creations!Yesterday, Mrs. Parks and her group went to Culver's for lunch and then went on a grocery store scavenger hunt at Woodman's. We found different items in the store then found the price, dollar up, and what aisle/department number the item was found in. Check out some pictures from our day!Students in Miss Cook's group voted to work on dollar up: using a dollar amount written in decimal form, we look at the dollars only and think "what number comes next?" That is our dollar up! Students found items for various areas of their homes and even items you'd see/use on a farm. Check out the slideshow below and these two videos from Tanner and Molly! 1) Molly's dollar up explaining 2) Tanner's dollar up and item explaining Always practicing our reading skills! Check out some of the kids reading the book of the week last week and writing practice! Today on community, we practiced finding items by letter of the alphabet, writing down prices, and practicing dollar up. We practiced identifying dollars from cents, how to write our money amounts correctly, and how to read money amounts allowed correctly.
This small group (Tanner, Starra, Elijah) ROCKED it today! Molly and Maddox have been working hard on their Christianity project! Their project is a booklet that includes the different parts of the religion: holidays, traditions, symbols, and more. They also were able to present their project to peers in their class.
