Yesterday, students used a visual scavenger hunt and printed signs in order to find items in Walmart needed for a homemade pizza recipe. Students needed to use environmental print, knowledge of letter sounds/sight words/or decoding skills. Students then recorded the aisle they found each item in.
Take a look at the photos below to see the awesome learning that happened! Today the group went to Petco and worked on a scavenger hunt. Each student worked on finding either pets or items that the pets would need such as fish, a toy for a fish, a turtle, dog leash, etc. We learned Petco is a store only for pet supplies.
Before the trip, Malix led the group in discussion of expected behaviors. Way to take on a leadership role, Malix! Xander and Shane were able to be responsible and independent and complete the set activity independently as a team! Way to go, you two! Vinnie also took the initiative to pull the cord to request a stop in order to get off at our correct bus stop on the way back to school. Go Vinnie! Today, students focused on departments- what you can find in each department or what you can do there.
