Yesterday, Miss Cook's group went walking and window shopping at the mall. Check out the pictures below of the things we found! Students chose items they liked. Students took a tour of the Waukesha Public Library and did a scavenger hunt, looking for different types of books, and chose one to read. Students read their books on their own or with a friend and put them back in the correct spot to be re-shelved when done! Avery, Maddox, Molly, and Jenna have finished their charcoal art projects! Check out the photos below! Miss Brown's skills class is working on Zones of Regulation for understanding our emotions, problems, and strategies to get regulated (ready to work). They discussed the zones and tools or things that we can use when we are feeling a certain way. They had discussion on how some tools may work for one person but may not work for you because everyone is different and needs different things! Yesterday, Miss Cook's group headed to the laundromat to learn how to wash and fold clothes. We followed the visual steps of doing laundry from start to finish! While waiting for the wash to finish, we did a quiet activity like reading or coloring. Check out the pictures and videos below! They are working on blending with fingers, blending stump, and q-tips. "Melty Grilled Cheese Sandwich" RecipeOur Reading class made the grilled cheese recipe from our News 2 You article today! We needed to read the recipe to get the tools and ingredients ready, then follow all the steps. We also needed to wash our dishes when finished. Check out the pictures below. We also needed to find utensils to use for cooking labs and eating. Students used signs (environmental print) to find departments and items. We are excited to make these in Skills classes on Friday! Stay tuned for a blog about the cooking lab where we make these! Last week, Mrs. Parks' skills class learned how to make scrambled eggs. They also learned a little bit about chickens and eggs along the way! Of all the students who made scrambled eggs, there was only one egg cracking that didn't go according to plan... they laughed and learned what to do when that happens!
